China Power Station: Part III

26.04.08 – 15.09.08
MUDAM Luxembourg

After London and Oslo, and before being presented in Beijing, China Power Station comes to Mudam Luxembourg. Reflecting the vitality of the Chinese art scene on an international level, China Power Station: Part III is aimed at linking the generation of Chinese artists that emerged during the 1980s with a new generation of artists that has appeared on the international art scene since 2000. Unlike their elders, who mostly began their careers in the West, a new generation of artists has decided to stay in China in order to witness the profound social, political and economic changes the country is going through and be actively involved in them. The exhibition addresses problems related to urban space, the historical and current situation in China as well as everyday space. It also highlights the way in which video and new technology have become important tools for Chinese artists to record and write this history.
