Candice Breitz

Winner of the Prix d’Art Contemporain Fondation Pierre de Monaco in 2007, Candice Breitz is known for photographs and videos that explore the impact of Hollywood culture and popular musical on contemporary consciences. Monuments is a series of five photographs realized in collaboration with the photographer Marcus Gaab in June 2007 in Berlin. These five images of broad format, one of them belonging to the Mudam Collection, are portraits of fan of Iron Maiden, Britney Spears, Grateful Dead, Abba and Marilyn Manson. For the multi-channel video installation King (A Portrait of Michael Jackson), Candice Breitz invited fans to reinterpret and relive songs under professionnal recording conditions.
